Savitri followed Yama, and through her intelligence and devotion, she impressed him.

Yama granted her a boon, and she cleverly asked for children—which meant her husband had to be alive.

Touched by her love and devotion, Yama returned Satyavan’s life.

1. Fasting: Women fast from sunrise to moonrise.

2. Puja near Banyan Tree:

Women worship the Vat Vriksha (Banyan Tree) by tying sacred threads (sacred red or yellow cotton) around the tree.

They offer soaked gram, fruits, flowers, and perform prayers (puja).

3. Storytelling: The Savitri-Satyavan story is read or heard as part of the ritual.

जिस दिन सत्यवान की मृत्यु होनी थी, यमराज उसकी आत्मा लेने आए।

सावित्री ने यमराज का पीछा किया और अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता और भक्ति से उन्हें प्रभावित किया।

यमराज ने सावित्री को वरदान दिया, जिसमें सावित्री ने संतान प्राप्ति का वर मांगा, जो केवल पति के जीवित रहने पर ही संभव था।

यमराज उसकी भक्ति से प्रसन्न होकर सत्यवान को जीवनदान देते हैं।

1. व्रत: महिलाएं सूर्योदय से चंद्रदर्शन तक व्रत रखती हैं।

2. बरगद के पेड़ की पूजा:

महिलाएं वटवृक्ष (बरगद) की पूजा करती हैं।

पेड़ के चारों ओर पवित्र धागा (लाल या पीला सूत) लपेटती हैं।

चना, फल, फूल, हल्दी-कुमकुम आदि अर्पित करती हैं।

3. व्रतकथा: सावित्री-सत्यवान की कथा का पाठ या श्रवण किया जाता है।

4. विवाहित स्त्रियों का श्रृंगार: महिलाएं सुंदर साड़ी, चूड़ियां, बिंदी, सिंदूर आदि से श्रृंगार करती हैं।
